State Visit By His Excellency Hu Jintao, The President Of The People’s Republic Of China And Madam Liu Yongging To Malaysia

His Excellency Hu Jintao, President of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) is scheduled to make a State Visit to Malaysia at the invitation of His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong. H.E President Hu Jintao will be accompanied by his wife Madam Liu Yongqing and a 140 member official entourage.

2. Malaysia and China enjoy warm and friendly relations. The visit will certainly enhance and strengthen further bilateral cooperation. H.E President Hu Jintao last visited Malaysia in April 2002, when he was the Vice President of the PRC.

3. 2009 marked the 35th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China. A year long celebration including the official visit of the Honorable Prime Minister to China on 2 – 5 June 2009 highlighted the importance of the occasion. The President’s visit marks yet another milestone in the development of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China, since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1974.

4. H..E President Hu Jintao will be officially welcomed at the Parliament Square, followed by an audience with His Majesty Al-Wathiqu Billah Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah, Yang di-Pertuan Agong XIII at the Istana Negara. His Majesty will host a State Banquet in honour of the President and Madam Liu Yongqing on 10 November 2009.

Dato’ Lee took note of the perfect state of the bilateral relations between Malaysia and PNG and both expressed the desire to further enhance relations in all areas of bilateral cooperation for mutual benefit.

The new Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia His Excellency Thana Duangratana, 57, paid a courtesy call on YB Dato’ Lee Chee Leong at 11.00 a.m on Wednesday, 4 November 2009 in Wisma Putra. It was Ambassador Thana’s first courtesy call on YB Dato’ Lee Chee Leong after presenting his credentials to Yang Di Pertuan Agong on 10 September 2009.
